By promoting physical movement, life-centred dance-movement helps older individuals maintain their physical functioning. Additionally, by fostering creative self-expression, it strengthens their sense of identity and personhood, which is particularly valuable for individuals with dementia. The non-verbal nature of life-centred dance-movement allows for communication beyond words, enabling individuals who have lost their ability to speak to reconnect with others and reduce feelings of isolation and depression. |
