Research has concluded that dance/movement interventions with people with mental health difficulties have positive effects on self-esteem, coping strategies, interpersonal sensitivity, depression, anxiety and hostility. They significantly reduce depression and increase vitality, and benefit the emotional, physical, social and spiritual dimensions. Studies show that these potential benefits apply to several different groups, from university students, the elderly, to psychiatric hospitalized patients.
